The morning brisk walk

Dear Friends,

I wish to make an announcement: I have again started my morning brisk walks. It's a routine I used to do last year and had discontinued in between. This morning it felt very very good to be doing it again. The best part is the crisp air of the morning. The route I take is a small road parallel to the famous 'Palm Beach Road' in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The best part of this morning's walk was the observation I made of the variety of trees and shrubs on this road. There are bougainvillea in myriad colours - violet, yellow, white and orange. There are also coconut palms, there is one good thicket of bamboo which is definitely not native to this place but probably planted by a lover of bamboo. There is this beauty about bamboo that surprises me, enthralls me, fascinates me and of course we all know its varied uses!

More about the trees on this road, that I take:there are some palms that are planted in the middle of the road at the end of it, which are also not native to this place, but there you go again-another lover of these beautiful trees planted them. There is also the occasional neem tree, the benefits of which all Indians know. I have, of course, seen all these trees and shrubs on this very road before, but this morning I was looking at them anew and all of them appeared fresh, invigorating and they appeared to have this quality of refreshing the people taking their morning walk on the road-sort of preparing them for the day ahead. This morning I wished I should have been a botanist.

About the people that I saw on my morning walk-there were the regulars-mostly old people in groups, talking animatedly. Then there were the middle aged people, some with paunches-by the way some of the paunches were going heave ho, heave ho! There were youngsters-they seemed to be sort of determinedly marching. Then there were those who were probably tired after a brisk walk and were resting on stone sofas.

It was a great refreshing walk.

Here is a promise to myself-I am going to do it again tomorrow morning-I am going to take the brisk walk again and hope to continue doing it for a long time to come.

Upcoming trip to Binsar, Naukuchiatal and Corbett Park(Apr-May, 2012)

Hello again,
It's been a long time since I posted anything. I have been feeling guilty that I started this blog and did not continue posting. Nevertheless, here I am again, having a go at.
I thought I might just announce that I am travelling with my family this month and the next. We shall be covering three places - Binsar, Naukuchiatal and Corbett Park all in Uttaranchal, India. I and my family are super excited about this trip as this comes after a long time. I hope to unwind and relax.  We are all looking forward to the trip, to be amongst nature and see some wildlife.
We did the booking for the trip about six months a go, the hard part was meeting my professional commitments so that I did not need to be worried much about work while on the trip. I think I managed this beautifully-ensuring that I needn't be worried about work during the trip. Part of the reason why I am excited about this trip is that my Son Namit will get to see wildlife at the Corbett National park. I have decided this time that I shall not be checking my e-mails during the time of the trip and will not take phone calls during this time.

Hope to post more when I return from the trip. I am uploading some photographs of the places where we will be staying.

Best regards to everybody.
